According to the notification, the Ministry has amended the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artifacts Order, 2020. Under this, jewellers who had earlier declared their stocks of old hallmarked jewellery have been given time till June 30, 2023 to sell them. Nidhi Khari, additional secretary in the ministry said that there are 1.56 lakh registered jeweller’s in the country, out of which 16,243 jeweller’s disclosed their old hallmarked jewellery on July 1 this year.
